David L. Shank, APR, Ret. Fellow, PRSA David Shank, APR, Fellow PRSA, has been a leader in PRSA at the Chapter, District and National levels. He has served as a Hoosier Chapter president, a two-time East Central District Chair and was a pioneer PRSA National Staff regional representative. A graduate of IU Bloomington, he began his career as a radio news reporter in Pueblo, Colorado. In 1976, David and Marilyn Shank, APR, returned to Hoosier land. He originated a public relations department at an ad agency and then was recruited to BDP Company / Carrier Corp/ United Technologies. He last assignment was Public Relations Director for Carrier North American Operations. About 33 years ago David and Marilyn formed Shank Public Relations counselors which became a local powerhouse serving clients as Walmart, Home Depot, Denny’s Restaurants, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Eli Lilly and Co. and many other local and regional clients. The firm became recognized as the go-to source for public education issues, sherparding numerous public school districts through referenda and crisis issues. David and Marilyn retired from and retired Shank Public Relations Counselors in early 2019. He is a volunteer board member and has been a presenter and panel moderator for the Indiana School Public Relations Association. He is the moderator the Indiana Department of Work Force Development Awards of Excellence program. He has also moderated the West Side Chamber of Commerce Candidate Forums. |
