The Netflix documentary “Athlete A” brought several issues to light, including the importance of investigative journalism. The documentary showed how several local investigative journalists from the Indianapolis Star were credited for digging deeper into a very sensitive issue that ultimately stopped a child predator. While this was a major story, reporters regularly reveal the truth in situations across the country.

As public relations professionals, we know investigative journalists play an important role in our society, and oftentimes, we are the go-to who fields information for them and assists with messaging. At the upcoming Meet the Media Zoom event, we’ll get a better understanding of the day-to-day responsibilities of a few Indy-based investigative journalists, find out what they need from us as PR reps and learn the best way to work with them.
