PRSA Hoosier Chapter Luncheon – Let’s talk about diversity and gender-balanced leadership!
May 10, 2017 @ 11:30 am - 1:00 pm

Bring a colleague! Men, women – all are welcome! Let’s talk about diversity and gender-balanced leadership.
First, hear from the founder and leader of Linking Indy Women, Sarah Lacey. Lacey founded the group in 2010 to encourage women to network and build business relationships on a deeper level, inspiring each other.
Then, join Melissa Greenwell, executive vice president and chief operating officer of The Finish Line, Inc., for a walk through the “10 Steps to Build Gender-Balanced Leadership Teams.” Learn how you can change practices, programs and behaviors to enable you to build more gender-balanced and successful leadership teams – and be more profitable!
“Men and women are different,” says Greenwell. “There are the obvious physical differences, but we are also different in ways that are not easy to see but often experienced. We think differently, we communicate differently and we problem solve differently. There are good reasons for that. We view the world from different perspectives.”
“Difference in perspectives brings more money to the bottom line,” she adds. “The problem is – we’re missing perspective. We’re leaving money on the table! It’s because in most organizations, we’re lacking female leadership at senior levels. We don’t have the gender balance we need to best solve our biggest and most expensive problems. The question is how do we change this paradigm? How do we get more women in senior leadership roles?”
Here’s what you will learn:
- The business case for having more gender balance in leadership.
- The brain science behind how men and women think, communicate and problem solve differently.
- How to have transparent conversations in your organization about the importance of gender balance.
- Strategic actions you can implement to increase gender balance in leadership.
