The IU Foundation seeks a versatile communicator with a passion for higher education, a flair for persuasive prose, a keen eye for typos, and a propensity for creative communications solutions. In a collaborative and fast-paced environment within the IU Foundation’s President’s Office, the Communications Specialist will work with the IU Foundation Director of Strategic Communications and Projects on all external and internal communications and media relations for the IU Foundation (IUF) including: presentations and speeches, news releases and media advisories, communications plans and campaigns, executive correspondence, events, copyediting, fact checking, and research. The Communications Specialist serves as content coordinator and editor for IUF’s intranet and other internal communications vehicles. The Communications Specialist will also provide editorial support for a small portfolio of marketing projects, including invitations, website updates, and proofreading. The President’s Office will depend on the Communications Specialist to seek, research, and master technologies that drive efficient communications.
This individual will be joining a dynamic, forward-thinking team that serves on the leading edge helping to represent IUF to IU Administration, unit partners, and donors; and in supporting the IUF Board of Directors and IUF staff. The successful candidate will possess exceptional writing skills with the ability to create appropriate content and tone for a wide variety of voices in a mix of mediums that is high quality, consistent, timely, accurate, and attentive to details. The Communications Specialist must demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills, including demonstrated proficiencies in proofreading, copy editing, and fact checking. Paramount to the success of this role is the ability to anticipate needs, and thrive on working on multiple projects under deadlines. This individual will use sound judgment when making decisions, establish effective working relationships with a wide variety of professionals and exhibit a strong customer service orientation throughout their work.
