We currently have an opportunity for a Public Relations Specialist.

The Public Relations Specialist supports the organization in communicating the value proposition of CEDIA to the industry, CEDIA members, affiliated trades such as designers, builders, and architects, and the general public. The Public Relations Specialist will have the following responsibilities:
• Focus on content creation
o Write and distribute press releases in a timely manner, ensuring they go through proper approval process
o Manage and update content on CEDIA websites through the CMS
o Maintain a robust social media content calendar
o Share content and nurture engagement of many audiences on CEDIA’s social properties
o Review and edit content with meticulous attention to detail
o Write blog and newsletter content as assigned
o Able to implement an effective PR campaign to generate awareness
• Focus on Media Reporting/Monitoring
o Calculate earned media and impressions and create a monthly report for board and staff
o Manage press clipping services
o Create and maintain press lists
o Ensure architect, builder, and designer database is updated and pull lists for targeted marketing efforts
• Take the lead on the CEDIA “marketplace” and promotional item ordering
o Help develop promotional materials including marketing collateral, website, newsletters, online community, and digital marketing to ensure projects are completed on time and in budget
o Ensure the CEDIA visual identity and branding guidelines are maintained across all materials
o Lead selection and brand application for branded apparel and promotional items for Marketplace, Staff Apparel, etc.
• Schedule and oversee photography needs for the association (headshots, etc.)
• Additional projects as assigned by supervisor
• Travel requirements:
o Ability to travel to events as needed


• Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, English, Business, or a related communications field
• 2-3 years of related experience and/or training
• Proven editorial skills and strong writing skills with a clear understanding of AP style and standard public relations formatting for media alerts and press releases
• Experience with Meltwater and/or BurrellesLuce a plus
• Ability to identify and nurture relationships with key interview sources (volunteers and members) for media and content opportunities
• Solid project management and organizational skills
• Acute attention to detail and ability to work independently
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from colleagues, senior management, customers, and the general public
• Ability to embrace change and adapt strategies readily
• Possess a philosophy of continuous learning with regard to latest platforms, technology tools, and PR tactics
