President’s Message from Mark Back 2024

There has never been a time when ethical, skilled PR professionals were needed more than now. Sounds cliché, right? Perhaps, but it’s true.
In 2024, professional communicators face unprecedented challenges: disinformation, revolutionary technological shifts, political polarization, decreased trust in institutions, and many more. Together, these challenges demand renewed dedication to ethics in our profession and a commitment to spread truth relentlessly. PRSA Hoosier Chapter must be a cornerstone resource for our members to accomplish these goals.
As a chapter, we represent public relations professionals throughout Indiana, including employees of associations, agencies, corporations, universities, nonprofits, government, and independent practitioners. With more than 270 members, we are one of the largest chapters in the U.S. We provide our members with valuable programs and events, accreditation training, the latest industry news and information.
This year, we have adopted three overarching goals for the chapter: value, growth, and impact. We are aiming to:
- Increase the value of membership to all Hoosier Chapter members,
- Grow our membership by creating a long-term, sustainable pipeline of new members, and
- Give our members the tools and resources needed to increase their positive impact in our communities and beyond.
Our strategies and tactics to achieve these goals are highlighted in our 2024-2026 strategic plan.
Our 2024 board of directors and volunteer leaders are committed to creating an exceptional member experience that educates, inspires, guides, and galvanizes a diverse community of ethical, strategic public relations and communications professionals. Ultimately, our aim is to ensure all our members are smarter, better prepared, and more connected through all stages of their careers.
As for me, I am humbled to serve as president of our great chapter this year. Please know that I am always available as a resource to you, and I want to hear from all members with suggestions about how our chapter can improve.
Here’s to a great year!
Mark
