March Luncheon – Walk the Talk: Fostering Identity Affirming Spaces

March 11, 2020 @ 11:30 am - 1:00 pm

Brands can no longer afford to focus on one type of customer – and neither can employers. According to a BuiltIn study, the Caucasian population will fall to 63 percent of the total U.S. population by the end of this year. Whether you advise brands on marketing campaigns, roll out employee engagement surveys or simply manage a team, diversity and inclusion should be front-of-mind in all we do.

Don’t miss our March luncheon, where Dr. Buchanan-Rivera, chief equity and inclusion officer for Hamilton Southeastern Schools, will lead a discussion about the importance of creating spaces that prioritize equity and a sense of belonging.

Speaker:

Dr. Erica Buchanan-Rivera has served in education for nearly 13 years as a teacher, principal, and director of curriculum. During her time as a principal in Lawrence Township, she was recognized as an Administrator of the Year award recipient and her international school was nationally recognized as a Magnet School of Excellence under her leadership. Dr. Buchanan-Rivera is currently the Chief Equity and Inclusion Officer in Hamilton Southeastern Schools and serves as an adjunct professor at her alma mater, Butler University. Her research is centered on identity-affirming environments and she completed her doctoral degree from Indiana State University in 2017. She believes that all students deserve a classroom environment that values their authenticity.
