New Year, New Opportunities… Continued High-Quality Benefits

Change. Hoosier PRSA is making some changes. There, I said it. I’ve been waiting awhile to let the cat out of the bag!

CHANGE!!!! It’s all around us. I’ve communicated change management many times in my career, and never have I been this excited and nervous. We actually had a saying at my last company (Shout out to Choices, Inc!)… “Change agents change first.” That’s me…usually.

You spoke…we listened.

Relying on member feedback (research, baby), the board knows a top membership value is networking. So this year, we are focusing on networking opportunities for you, our members.

In 2015, monthly professional development luncheons are moving to an every-other-month schedule. The luncheons will continue to deliver high-quality material and provide opportunities for networking. During the opposite months of our luncheons, we will host a networking event with varying locations and times; however, the events will continue to occur on the second Wednesday of the month. Our first networking event is scheduled for Feb. 11 from 5-7 p.m. at Indiana City Brewing Co. I hope you can join me there and try this new membership benefit. We will send a registration invitation to members very soon.

Of course, the Chapter will continue to offer our other professional development events, including meet-the-media events, an APR readiness course and continuing education seminars.

The professional development change this year is a pilot program and still in its infancy. As good APRs, we will monitor the program, listen to your feedback and adjust as necessary.

So, what do you think? Should I be excited or nervous – or both? Share with us now and in the future. This is your professional organization. You are the customer. Take advantage of our services – new and old – and let us know what you think.

Don’t forget to join me and many of our board members on Feb. 11 at Indiana City Brewing Co. Click here to register. I’d love to hear your goals for professional development and find out what you need from the Chapter to get there. We have a lot of resources, and Indiana remains one of the largest PRSA Chapters in the country.
