The PRSA Hoosier Chapter is conducting member profiles throughout the year to facilitate connections within the Chapter. We are pleased to introduce Allison Schrock.

Name: Allison Schrock

Position: Marketing Manager

Employer: Everence®

College Attended: University of Indianapolis

PRSA Board Position: Social Media Committee

Q: What does it mean to you to be a PRSA board member?

A: From my time as the PRSA New Professionals co-chair, to now as a member of the social media committee, I have been excited to meet so many people in the industry and gain countless new connections. Being a PRSA board members is meaningful to me because I get to help foster these types of experiences for other PR professionals. We emphasis the importance of networking and making connections, so being able to play a part in that is extremely rewarding.

Q: What are you reading now (or have read in the past) that you think other PRSA members would be interested in?

A: I recently read and recommend, #Follow The Leader: Lessons in Social Media Success from #HigherEd CEOs by Dan Zaiontiz, MCM. While it directly deals with examples from Higher Ed, it can easily be applied to many industries that find themselves dealing with resistance to effectively use social media for their institution/company/employer. There are great case studies and suggestions on how to start the discussion about social media with senior level management.

Q: What’s one place you have yet to travel/or your favorite place you’ve visited?

A: My favorite place I’ve traveled to is Puerto Rico. It is a beautiful country that exudes scenic and cultural beauty. From the beaches to the jungle to the fort, I was always experiencing breath-taking beauty and living a piece of history.

Q: What advice would you give to your 15-year-old self?

A: Live in the moment and partake in every experience that comes your way.

Q: What’s your favorite part of your current job?

A: Free fruit Wednesdays, it’s the best day of the week! But in all seriousness, my favorite part of the job has to be the people. Everyone is kind and truly cares about what’s going on in your life. We have a very collaborative environment and try to foster teamwork and relationship building every step of the way. Being one of the youngest members of our team, I have a great opportunity to learn from more experienced marketers while still  adding my own fresh perspective.

Q: What are your hobbies outside of work?

A: Outside of work, I love to read and cook and recently began enjoying CrossFit. My family raises dairy cattle and we travel to compete in shows around the Midwest.
