Q: Is there a specific cause or non-profit for which you advocate?

When diagnosed with breast cancer 16 years ago I discovered a newly-formed group called the Young Survival Coalition trying to form an Indianapolis chapter. Although I am now an old survivor I still have a place in my heart for the mission of YSC.

Q: What do you wish you had known earlier in your career?

I remember the day I looked at my rubber-banded pile of over 500 business cards and realized the value of my professional contacts. I wish I’d worked harder at maintaining those relationships.

Q: What was your first job?

I graduated from the IU School of Journalism without a job so while answering newspaper ads for employment I was also working as temporary help in the catering department of the Columbia Club. One day the Club’s PR director came down the hall with my resume and asked, “Is this you? If so, we love you and you are hired!” I never had the chance to wear my fancy interview suit.

Q: What is something most people don’t know about you?

For the past 25 years I’ve helped the Stutz Car Club publish a quarterly magazine of its activities. This all started during my entrepreneurial stint when I had offices in the Stutz Building in downtown Indianapolis. I feel honored to have played a part in keeping this bit of Indiana automotive history alive and well.

Q: What is your favorite piece of technology?

I’ve been using an iPad as a phone for the past four years. I tell people I do it because I am no longer tied to a cellular phone contract but the reality is I like that everything is BIG and easy to see!
