Student-Run Agency Awarded PRSSA National Affiliation

The McKinley Avenue Agency, Ball State University’s student-run strategic communications agency, was designated a Nationally Affiliated Firm by the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA). The agency is now one of 26 student-run firms with that distinction across the country.

According to the PRSSA website, this distinction “represents the most accomplished and successful student-run firms operated by PRSSA chapters.”

Although the previous student-run agency at the school held the national affiliation, after merging to become The McKinley Avenue Agency, they had to reapply to become affiliated again. The McKinley Avenue Agency successfully completed the national affiliation application process by ensuring a solid PRSSA/PRSA connection, a high level of professionalism, and an effective structure.

The agency received access to the PRSSA Affiliate program benefits, including access to an internship database and job center, the ability to access and write for PRSSA’s national blog, and access to two handbooks on public relations education (“Student Guide” and “The Professional Bond”) and the opportunity to attend the PRSSA National events at a discounted rate.
